How do i stay happy during my long distance relationship?

I am going away to college in the fall and my girlfriend is staying home going into her senior year i want to go away and have a good time but ive noticed whenever weve had to be apart for random instances of a week or so sometimes im just not happy because im constantly thinking about her how can i be happy in this relationship when i go away without her being there?
