Was Lewis Carroll a pedofile?

From what I remember learning in a Children's lit class I took in university, there were many rumours about him having inappropriate relationships with children but no actual accusations about actual pedophilia. Other than his photography. So that he may have had the thoughts, but not carried out the actions of a pedophile. I don't think anyone will ever know, because everyone is long dead now.
